Suspect in custody. Appeared before Houston County District Court Judge Benjamin Lewis this morning at first appearance. Wilson has two charges, False Reporting To Law Enforcement and Certain Persons Forbidden To Carry A Firearm. Bond has been set at $ 15,000.00 each.

DOTHAN:    On Sunday Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Police to the 2000 block of Hodgesville Road to a firearm assault. Multiple Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Deputies responded.

At the time of dispatch the information was a male subject shot in the leg. The suspect was possibly a homeless man who was last seen running across Hodgesville Road towards Highway 231 South.

Law Enforcement officers, a lot of law enforcement officers, quickly established a perimeter and a search of the area for the firearm assault suspect. The victim was transported to Southeast Health.

After Dothan Police Criminal Investigation was conducting an investigation it was determined this was a self inflicted wound and no one actually shot the victim, other than the victim shooting himself.

The victim has been identified as 34 year old Mitchell Dean Wilson, Jr.  Dothan Police have now issued a BOLO ( Be On Look Out ) for Wilson for False Reporting To Law Enforcement. Wilson made the story up because he has criminal convictions which forbid him from possession a firearm. After release from Southeast Health now law enforcement officers are searching for Wilson.
