GORDON: 09:00 AM Houston County 911 dispatched Gordon Volunteer Fire, Ashford Rescue and Houston County Sheriff Deputies along with ALEA – Troopers to a critical injury wreck on Highway 84 East near Highway 95 intersection.
The information to Houston County 911 the accident involved a box truck and a semi pulpwood truck. Based on no confirmation of entrapment Gordon Fire Chief Justin McAllister mutual aided Ashford Fire Department in case extrication was required. On arrival of the first Gordon Volunteer Fireman they declared no entrapment and only one patient. At that time Chief McAllister cancelled Ashford Fire response.
Both the log truck and box truck were traveling east on Highway 84. As the passed Highway 95 intersection the semi was stopping at Huckaby’s Store. The box truck got to close to the log truck and swerved the left to mis striking the back of the truck. The box truck driver did strike a log which came into the cab of the box truck on the right side. The box truck then skid through the median and came to rest in the wood line on the west bound traffic side of the roadway.
The log truck driver was not injured. The box truck driver appeared to have two broken arms and other injuries. The driver was transported, emergency, by Ashford Rescue to Southeast Health.
