HOUSTON COUNTY: The members of the Houston County Commission are apparently using the funds of the Houston County Volunteer Fire Departments to operate Houston County government on.
This Houston County Commission, according to all reports possible, will begin 2026- 2027 with $ 13-14 million dollars in the red.
Each month the Houston County Commission pays the Houston County Volunteer Fire Chief Association the tobacco tax fees. The Houston County Commission paid the fireman on June 29, 2026 the check for April 2026. They have not paid May, June or July at all and we entering the month of April.
The roof top tax was paid on June 30, 2026 to the fireman.
The 17 Houston County Volunteer Fire Departments need this money to operate and serve the citizens of the county in their times of need. Most of the departments do not have municipalities to back them up, such as Wicksburg, Bay Springs, Taylor, Southern Junction, Madrid, Hodgesville, Lovetown, Pansey, Gordon, Webb, and Kinsey. While some are in a municipality most are not part of the municipality.
So the Houston County Commission, Brandon Shoupe, Ricky Herring, James Ivey, Curtis Harvey and Tracy Adams keeping their money apparently because they, the commissioners, have broke Houston County is dirty.
FACT CHECK ME!!!!
