DOTHAN: We are a society dependant on cell phones. And today with cell service being interrupted has caused the emergency system to regroup.
Most responders use Active 911 to be notified via cell phone service to be notified of emergencies. The 17 volunteer fire departments in Houston County and 5 EMS service only have their two way radios as backup. The City of Dothan have Southern Linc service. They were testing the service today.
The hospitals have gone to backup sources because many employees and physicians depend on cell phone service.
Society has become totally dependant on cellular service. The interruption, as I have been told, is mainly Verizon and T-Mobile. And it has been odd. I have three cell phones that I keep with me, 37 total Verizon units. My air cards for cell work, not tried my Air Pad, one cell – my main phone works only when connected to my air card or WIFI. One does not work and one I can make and receive phone calls on. I am told FACETIME calls work.
Let me answer why I have 37 lines, which is STUPID probably. But the bondsman have, about to be HAD, Air pads. Family of 5 plus grandson, bondsman phones, we had problems with internet at the office because CSPIRE has sucked, so we tried Verizon internet which also sucked. And we tried Verizon ONE TALK and I do not recomend it.
So over the next few days we will be doing away with some lines.
Why do I carry 3 phones? Because of taking photos, video, livestreaming, etc. The news business is why I have the different phones and some sneaky ways I have of finding out things.
So far the emergencies have been handled. VERIZON should give a discount because a lot of people’s lives have been interrupted since they created a system where so many people depend on cell service.
