HEADLAND: This past week Survival Flight, the air transport medical helicopter stationed at Headland Airport, held a luncheon with a very important announcement.
Survival Flight seeing the need for emergency medical transport of injured K-9 Government Service K-9’s implemented a K-9 transport service by air. NOt all vet’s are equipped to medically treat in emergency situations K-9’s which are shot, stabbed or otherwise injured in the line of duty.
In order to make this a reality, it took the coordination of multiple parties. And one very important part was Republican Alabama State Rep. Rick Rehm.
After being contacted, Republican Alabama State Rep. Rick Rehm, which represents Henry and Houston County, began working with fellow legislators and developed legislation which allowed the emergency transport.
The agency with the injured K-9 will contact Survival Flight which will fly to the scene, take the handler and K-9, and transport by air to the nearest provider. A lot of time in Alabama that is Auburn University. If the handler is not available then another trained handler will fly along with the crew on Survival Flight.
Auburn University Vet School has embraced this idea and made it a reality.
While none involved has any desire for this to happen, prepardness is the key. And Survivial Flight and others made it a reality in the event an emergency happens.
Republican Alabama State Representative hit the ground running when elected. He makes almost all council meetings in Henry County and civic club meetings. When contacted, he works with local and Montgomery to come up with a solution. Assisting his was Alabama U.S. Representative Barry Moore and Aide Alex Reynolds.
THANKS for all you do.
The video opens with Dothan Police K-9 finding cocaine hidden and also in a take down.
