HENRY – HOUSTON COUNTY:     This past Thursday David Money announced that he will be seeking election as District 85, Alabama State Representative, in the 2026 elections.

Alabama House District 85 represents Henry County and parts of Houston County.

Born and raised in Henry County, David Money served 12 years as Henry County Probate Judge/Henry County Commission Chairman. In Henry County the Office of Probate Judge and Chairman of Henry County Commission are served by the same person. David Money did not seek re-election as Probate Judge/County Commission Chairman after serving the two consecutive terms.

David Money said he is grateful for the people allowing him to serve 12 years as Probate Judge/Commission Chairman. Money said he is seeking the Alabama State Representative District 85 office because it will allow him to get to a different perspective where he can serve more and give more to the people of Henry and Houston Counties.

David Money said elected officials are trusted with pubic funds which come from YOUR pocket. Money said he takes that trust very seriously. David Money said he takes so much joy in trying to help others.

David Money, born and raised in Henry County and attended schools in Henry County. Money has been married for 53 consecutive years. Together they have four ( 4 ) children and 11 grandchildren.

David Money said he has volunteered in areas of service for the past 50 years for free, except the past 12 years when serving as Henry County Probate Judge/Henry County Commission Chairman. Money worked with many people helping establish different programs over his 50 years of combined volunteer and paid service.

Until David Money became Henry County Probate Judge/Henry County Commission Chairman, he owned and operated Money’s Ford in Abbeville. Money said he knows what it means to make a payroll, to manage a business through tough economic times and what it is to have the responsibility to make a payroll for those who work and depend on you.

A strong supporter of economic development and especially workforce development. Helping the young people to learn their niche in life when they do not want to get into a four year college. Money supports workforce development in helping young people learn skills to help them in their life.

In 2020, David Money was elected as President of the Alabama Association of County Commissioners. During the two years as Presdient of the State Association,  Money chaired the legislative committee and made contacts all across the state and in the State House in Montgomery. In those two years he worked with people all across the state to get good legislation passed, but equally important to get bad bills defeated. As Alabama State Representative David Money feels he can help from a much broader perspective.

Money said people are demanding leaders who will serve with clarity, honesty, and integrity. Money said he pledges to work hard every day for the citizens of Henry and Houston County.

Election will be in May 2026. Official qualifying will not be until January 2026. Money will be qualifying for Alabama House of Representatives, District 85.
