GENEVA COUNTY: Geneva County Schools will remain closed Tuesday, October 13, as communities across the county continue recovering from the effects of Hurricane Isaias.
School officials report that an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 families across Geneva County are still without electricity, creating ongoing challenges for students, employees and their families.
The district said the decision to remain closed was made with those challenges in mind as residents continue working to get back to normal following the storm.
Geneva County Schools also expressed appreciation for the power company crews, city officials, emergency personnel and others who have worked around the clock to restore services and assist affected communities.
The district thanked families and employees for their patience, understanding and support during the recovery effort.
All Geneva County Schools are scheduled to reopen Wednesday, October 14th.
