Two men are facing trafficking marijuana charges after Abbeville police say officers discovered 24 pounds of marijuana inside a vehicle following a lengthy pursuit.

According to Abbeville Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle Saturday after the driver failed to obey traffic signals. Police say the vehicle fled, leading officers on an approximately 25-mile pursuit through Henry County.

In a statement, Marlos Walker, Chief of Police, identified the suspects as Jaylen Tenarous Faison and Jeffrey Tayion Summerlin.

Authorities say the pursuit ended when the vehicle came to a stop. During a search, officers reportedly found marijuana packaged in one-pound bags, along with additional marijuana concealed inside the vehicle. The total amount seized was approximately 24 pounds.

Police did not release the name of the hotel where the suspects were staying.

Both men have been charged with trafficking marijuana and attempting to elude law enforcement, which are felony offenses.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
