HOUSTON COUNTY | RICKEY STOKES NEWS

A missing juvenile was safely located following an extensive overnight search thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, Deputy Allard, and K9 Lola.

The K9 Unit was requested by the Enterprise Police Department to assist in locating a runaway juvenile who had been missing for approximately eight and a half hours in temperatures near 20 degrees.

Upon arrival, K9 Lola was deployed and quickly initiated a trail. During the initial track, K9 Lola flushed the juvenile from a concealed hiding spot in a wooded area. Officers briefly obtained visual contact; however, the juvenile fled on foot through dense woods and visual contact was lost. During the pursuit, the juvenile dropped a backpack along the route.

Air support, including a helicopter and drone, responded to assist with the search but later lost visual contact. Approximately one and a half hours later, K9 Lola was redeployed from the location where the backpack was recovered to begin a second trail.

K9 Lola successfully tracked the juvenile for approximately three miles, leading deputies to two old barns in a wooded area. The trail circled the barns, and K9 Lola entered one of the structures. Due to the length and difficulty of the track, the K9 team briefly paused.

Search personnel were directed to the barn area where K9 Lola had indicated. The juvenile was ultimately located approximately 40 yards from the barns inside a shed and was found safe.

Authorities praised the teamwork, determination, and skill displayed during the operation, crediting K9 Lola and Deputy Allard with bringing the search to a successful conclusion.

Great job to Deputy Allard, K9 Lola, and all agencies involved. 🐾👏
