HEADLAND. . .Angelia Kirkland Meis, a resident of Headland, died early Tuesday evening, June 3, 2025. She was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the Oakey Grove Baptist Church, near Abbeville, with Reverend Don Adams and Larry Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Angelia Meis was born in the Oakey Grove community of Henry County and was raised in Headland, daughter of the late Hubert Kirkland and Hilda Inez Tice Kirkland. She was a 1967 graduate of Headland High School and attended Wallace Community College. Angelia was a member of Oakey Grove Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star No. 76 in Dothan. She was formerly employed as Bookkeeper and Teacher at the First Baptist Church of Headland Child Development Center. She was preceded in death by an infant child and a brother, James Hubert Kirkland.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert Lee “Bob” Meis, two sons, Jonathan Meis (Laci), Valdosta, GA; and Jason Meis, Headland; two step-sons, Robert Horton and David Horton (Kristi); a brother, Larry Kirkland (Patricia), Newville; two grandchildren, Kaylee Meis and Oliver Meis; a niece, Hillary Kirkland, and a nephew, Frank Kirkland (Tawnya); several other nieces and nephews from the Meis family.
