DOTHAN:   Dothan Police, Dothan Fire, Pilcher Ambulance responded to a standoff at 212 West Saunders Road.

The suspect supposedly had an air rifle. This is unconfirmed.

Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance are staged at Cowboys across the highway.

At least 10 Dothan police units are at the scene now. Some Houston County Sheriff Deputies are on the scene.

West Saunders road is currently blocked. 

 Houston County units are now on scene.

Multiple Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Deputies are on the scene. Dothan Police Chief Will Benny, Dothan Police Major Will Glover and Dothan Police Captain Thomas Davis are on the scene.

West Saunders Road to Blackman is completely closed at this time.

The suspect has exited the trailer and peacefully surrendered to Dothan Police at this time.

Dothan Fire Engine 2 ( Lakewood ), Pilcher Ambulance, Dothan Fire Battalion Chief were on the scene. The EMS units checked the suspect out.

At 2:41 PM Dothan Police have transported the suspect to a local medical facility.

Dothan Police have opened West Saunders Road.

Dothan Police Lt. Scott Owens reported Dothan Police received a call at this location. On arrival the suspect fired an air assault rifle at the officers. Dothan Police did not return fire. Multiple more Dothan Police units responded. A negotiation team was quickly established and the area protected.

The negotiation team talked the suspect into a peaceful surrender. The suspect came out, as directed by Dothan Police, with arms in the air.

Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance checked the subject out. He was transported by Dothan Police Patrol. The subject was not injured and no reports of anyone being injured.

Dothan Police Criminal Investigation Division will conduct an investigation. At this time the criminal charges against the suspect are not known.

Dothan Police were patient. Contained the sitation and protected everyone living around. Took their time for a peaceful resolution.

UNDERSTAND, law enforcement always desires peaceful resolutions. The suspect makes the decision when the situations does not end peaceful. In this case, the suspect listened and thankfully made the correct decision to end it peacefully.
