2.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Alabama Georgia Line

USGS reported a 2.0 magnitude earthquake by the Alabama-Georgia line, east of DeSoto State Park, and southeast of Mentone, AL. This region has faults associated with the Appalachian Mountains and a history of small earthquakes. The largest event on AL record near that area was a 4.6 magnitude near Fort Payne in 2003. Shaking from small magnitude events such as this is not associated with structural damage.
No Injuries have been reported from this earthquake.
