SOUTHERN JUNCTION: 5:02 PM On Saturday Southern Junction Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 1080 St. Stephens Road in Southern Junction.
Southern Junction area is off Highway 109, south of Highway 605, near the Alabama - Florida line like traveling to Graceville. This road is off Dean Road.
On arrival of the "volunteer" fireman they found a truck fully involved in fire. The fireman made a defensive attack but the truck was burning well when arrived.
The volunteers give of their own time, vehicles and gas. They have no salary, retirement, health insurance benefits. But they are true "public servants" who give to their community without a salary, retirement or health insurance, unlike those who are elected who "claim" to be public servants. Those elected who draw salaries ( or double dippers ), 10 retirement, health insurance, vehicle allowance or government suckers.
THANK YOU to the volunteers.
