JACKSON COUNTY FL:     5:18 PM    On Saturday somewhere around 2 PM Jackson County Sheriff 911 received a call of a drowning. The location was on the Chipola River where Spring Creek intersects.

Jackson County Sheriff Deputies rolled to the scene. Jackson County Sheriff Donnie Edenfield rolled to get the boat and rolled to the scene. Other members of Jackson County Sheriff Department rolled with different water rescue equipment.

Shortly after emergency units arrived on the scene divers hit the water. Jackson County Sheriff Donnie Edenfield, personally, was out on the water in a boat.

Sheriff Edenfield called in additional agencies and resources. Florida Game and Fish had responded. Houston County Rescue Unit was called and responded. Sheriff Edenfield ordered the Jackson County Sheriff helicopter airborne for eyes in the sky.

The victim was a member of some military who were at Ft Rucker for training. On Saturday was a break day and for a decade the visitors were taken tubing. The victim had taken his life vest off and for someone reason came off the tube and has not been seen since.

Jackson County Sheriff Edenfield and all of the agencies on the scene remained until about 2 AM this morning. They had not found him but called the seach for a few hours for safety and rest.

This morning about 5 AM Sheriff Edenfield and all of the support agencies, to include Wickburg Fire - Rescue, Ft. Rucker Fire - Rescue, Houston County Rescue, Jackson County Sheriff Deputies and Search and Rescue, Florida Game and Fish, Jackson County Sheriff helicopter have searched and dove the waters looking since 5 AM today, not counting the search time on Saturday.

Today about eight ( 8 ) divers joined hands under water and seached a large area where the victim was reported to have been last seen at. No luck at of 5 PM. The victim is not local and was at Ft. Rucker for training.

The "underwater" search has been called. There will be deputies and Game and Fish Officers around and on the water tonight and back on Monday. Sheriff Edenfield will have deputies in the boat riding and searching and the helicopter in the air flying overhead.

The Jackson County Sheriff 911 staff has done an outstanding managing the operation via radio and phone, while handling all other duties. The men and women in the 911 Centers are the complete nerve center operation for the county and are the backbone that keeps the emergency system running and operating. And they did a great job.

AREA SHERIFF'S 

In the tri-state area the citizens have Sheriff's willing to roll up their sleeves and go to work. In Jackson County Florida, Sheriff Donnie Edenfield is always out and about on the streets working and handling administrative duties as well. Sheriff Edenfield does not mind helping and does not mind asking for help. He is dedicated to the citizens he serves. Sheriff Edenfield demands a lot from his staff as to work, be dedicated, be honest, and serve the citizens. But the men and women of Jackson County Sheriff Department know the Sheriff has their backs as long as they are doing their job properly and legally.

The same goes for the area Sheriff's and "most" police chief's in the area. They hit the ground running when needed and are their as servants of the citizens they serve.

TO THE FAMILY OF THE VICTIM 

Jackson County Sheriff Department and a host of other agencies and volunteers have done all within their power to locate your loved one. And they will continue until the victim has been found.

UPDATED @ 2:02 AM TUESDAY 

Jackson County Sheriff Donnie Edenfield has confirmed reports the body has been recovered.
