WASHINGTON D.C.:       Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., on security failures during the Trump assassination attempt and the possibility of a Kamala Harris presidency.

Senator Rubio describes the way law enforcement and the United States Secret Service communicated during the Trump Rally shooting. Senator Rubio called it unacceptable in today's world.

The communications issues were to be fixed after the 911 attack on the United States. And it got worse and not better.

GUESS WHAT?    That same level of lack of communication exists today in Alabama and this area.

Within the past week a Pike County ALEA - Trooper had a chase. The chase traveled north from Pike County into Montgomery County, turned right on Taylor Road in Montgomery. Traveled on Taylor to Interstate and turned towards Shorter.

The ALEA - Trooper had to communicate with ALEA Communications on the ALEA Trooper's cell phone because his radio would not work. Which meant no ALEA Trooper could hear his radio traffic. And there were ALEA Troopers working road construction on Taylor Road at the time of the chase.

ALEA - Troopers still has the same radio system as when I started in 1977.

Recently Barbour County went to stop a suspect on Impersonating a Police Officer. Barbour County radio system will not talk to Henry County Sheriff Department radio system.

The Barbour County Sheriff called the Henry County Sheriff on the phone. The Henry County Sheriff was on the water searching for the recent missing person. The Henry County Sheriff was able to contact Deutes which intercepted the vehicle.

Henry County Sheriff Department operates on a UHF Digital radio system through SCI Communications in Dothan. Henry County Sheriff Department and Headland Police Deprtment can not communicate with ALEA - Troopers or Houston County Sheriff Department. Headland Police Department can not communicate with Kinsey Police or Houston County Sheriff Department.

Former Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox issued some portables to ALEA Troopers so they could communicate with Henry County. But not all ALEA Troopers have them.

Houston County Sheriff Department uses the same UHF Digital Radios as Henry County, however, Houston County's system is through S & P Communications in Opp Alabama. The Henry County UHF Digital and Houston County Digital will not talk to each other. Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza issued some portable radios to some ALEA Troopers but all of them do not have the radios. If the Deputy has a tri band radio they can monitor ALEA Troopers.

Henry County Sheriff Department and Headland Police can not talk to Dothan Police Department. Dothan Police Department operates on a Motorola P 25 radio system.

Dothan Police Chief Will Benny had the Dothan Police radios were they can switch over and talk from the Motorola P25 to the Kenwood UHF Digital radio.

Slocomb Police, Hartford Police, Geneva Police, Samson Police and Geneva County Sheriff Department operate on a VHF Digitial radio system through S & P Communications in Opp Alabama. Houston County, Taylor Police does not have the ability to communicate with any Geneva County law enforcement agency.

The recent chase from Barbour County, into Abbeville City limits and Henry County, through Newville City limits, into Headland City Limits, into Kinsey City Limits, into Houston County, into Dothan City limits, around Ross Clark Circle to Highway 84 West, to Honeysuckle Road, to Highway 52 West, and traveled westrhough Taylor, Malvern, through Slocomb and a off duty ALEA Trooper jumped in uniform and called in service, and that ALEA Trooper and another made a successful spike in Hartford followed by a successful pit by Houston County Sheriff Department ended the chase.

But the interagency radio communications des not exist. You would be surprised officers having to call agencies or other officers during chases.

And the problem is simple to fix and could be fixedin less than 24 hours.

But those in the funding area do not care and if a law enforcement officer gets killed, oh well, they knew the risk when they took the job. But let someone they are charged in protecting get killed, well then you will see an uproar, finger pointing, and it is not acceptable.

Those with the finances, BE ADVISED. DO NOT ASK THE BOSSES, ask the boots on the ground in a position they can be honest, and see if I am not telling the truth.

And the law enforcement officer's blood is on your hands when it happens.
