DOTHAN: 7:16 PM Dothan Police Officer traveling west on Burdeshaw Street approaching North Foster Street was struck by a man on a skateboard.
North Foster Street runs north and south with a stop sign being at the intersection of North Foster Street and East Burdeshaw Street.
East Burdeshaw Street runs east and west and there is no stop sign or traffic signal for vehicles traveling east and west.
After being struck the Dothan Police Patrolman notified Dothan 911 to dispatch Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance.
The Dothan Police Patrol Officer called for supervisor and other officers responded.
The patient was transported by Pilcher Ambulance to Southeast Health, non emergency.
It appears clear the Dothan Police Officer had the right of way and the person on the electric skateboard went into the traffic and did not stop.
Dothan Police Chief Will Benny said the CRASH TEAM has been called to the scene to investigate the accident. Chief Benny said this is standard when a police officer is involved in a accident where injuries.
The injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
