DOTHAN:   This morning the family and friends of 29-year-old Brandon "BoBo" Mark Jackson Thompson,  suffered a tragic loss.

Not only the family and friends, but a son lost his daddy and friend this morning in the death of Bobo.

Thompson was killed in a single vehicle accident on Fortner Street outside Ross Clark Circle.

The citizens of Dothan Alabama suffered a loss this morning. Brandon Mark Jackson Thompson was  a six ( 6 ) year member of Dothan Police Department.

Brandon Mark Jackson Thompson was a member of Dothan Police Department Patrol Division. For the past 6 years he has devoted his life to serve and protect the citizens and guests of this city. Officer Thompson was a good and devoted police officer.

For the past year or so, Dothan Police Officer Thompson served as a K-9 Officer.  Serving along side of Officer Thompson, was Officer REX, his K-9 Partner. Together, they placed their lives on the line for the citizens of Dothan. Officer Thompson enjoyed his job and his partner Rex.

More than law enforcement though, Officer Thompson had a greater love. And that love was his son.

As I understand from friends, daddy enjoyed the time he spent with his son. The family has a trailer at Compass Lake they enjoyed very much. His son will always treasure the time he had with his dad.

To Officer Brandon Mark Jackson Thompson son, his parents and family, THANK YOU for allowing the City of Dothan Alabama to be protected and served by your daddy and son.

Our City and the streets of Dothan Alabama are better today because of his service.

A LESSON THROUGH DEATH IN LIFE

With the death of Dothan Police Officer Brandon Mark Jackson Thompson, we must learn a lesson in life.

That lesson is, slow down!

From the apparent facts and chain of events this morning, alcohol was a contributing factor to the one car accident.

( NOTE: UNCONFIRMED OFFICIALLY DUE TO TESTS BEING REQURIED ).

Regardless none the less, a fact that must be addressed in the death of Brandon Mark Jackson Thompson.

No one is invisible to the affects of alcohol and driving. While the accident took his life, the accident could have very easily claimed the life of the young lady with him. The set of circumstances could have taken the life of someone else. And that would have created another tragic chain of events.

To the friends of Thompson, to the citizens of Dothan Alabama and guests thereof, let the death of Brandon Mark Jackson  Thompson teach each of us, STOP. Do not drink and drive, slow down in life. STOP!

A lesson that Dothan Police Officer Thompson lost his life to teach us.

BRANDON MARK JACKSON THOMPSON

Brandon Mark Jackson Thompson had a  willingness to place his life and safety in danger for others.

Never in Thompson six years of service did he hesitate to place his life in danger for the safety of his community. He was aware of, and being a K-9 Officer, he knew when he called IN SERVICE, he might not go home again.

But never did Officer Thompson hesitate to take the steps necessary for the performance of his job as a police officer. He served with a desire and devotion as a law enforcement officer. A desire to make his community a better place for the future.

And with his leaving us this morning, he taught all of us some very important facts about life and the danger of one inappropriate decision.

THANK YOU BRANDON MARK JACKSON THOMPSON for your service to the Dothan Police Department. THANK YOU for the lesson and warning signs to others.

RIP!
