Chattanooga TN Officer Killed In LIne Of Duty One Month After Completing Police Academy

CHATTANOOGA TN: Last evening Chattanooga Police Officer Nicholas Galinger was killed by a hit and run driver while on duty.
While checking a hazard in the roadway, Officer Galinger, who graduated from Police Academy last month and was riding with a field training officer, exited the patrol vehicle to check a manhole cover taht was a hazard and had water flowing from it on Hamill Road just after 11 PM when struck by the vehicle.
Officer Galinger, age 38, was transported from the scene to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Suspect vehicle description: 20117/2018 Honda CRV with front end damage. Late Sunday evening law enforcement officers have located the vehicle at a home but the suspect was not home.
Chattanooga Police Chief David Roddy is quoted as saying that Chattanooga Police Department and the community lost not just an officer, but they lost a son, father, and a protector.
