On July 7, 2020, the Dothan Police Department’s Canine Unit lost one of their own after a short battle with cancer.


Alex began his illustrious career with Dothan Police Department in October 2012. Since the beginning Alex has been extremely instrumental in protecting the citizens of Dothan by assisting with locating drugs and suspects who fled from patrol officers.


K9 Alex was a member of the department’s SRT and was responsible for numerous SRT entries. Alex worked until the end and was surrounded by friends, family and the K9 unit. Alex was a hard working loyal K9 partner and he will truly be missed by the Dothan Police Department.
