Dothan Police Press Statement On Murder

On 09/04/2016 at approximately 2:12 p.m. Officers responded to a firearm assault in the 1700 block of Squire Court. Responding Officers located the victim, 34 year old Christopher Grimsley, inside the residence. Grimsley had succomb to his injuries sustained in the firearm assault. Investigators learned that following a heated verbal argument the suspect produced a firearm and began shooting at the victim. A broadcast for the suspect was issued based on statements from witnesses on the scene. A short time later the suspect turned himself in at the Dothan City Jail.


Investigators have arrested and charged 34 year old Joseph Curtis Dozier, of Lula Bell Lane NW Ft. Walton Florida, with Murder. Bond will be set later this week.


The investigation is ongoing. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
