DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:     7:12 PM      Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah and staff are STILL in the Emergency Operations Center with Alabama Emergency Management Teams.

At the request of Director Judah, Alabama Emergency Management Director Bryan Hastings dispatched teams to Geneva and Houston County to assist with damage assessment. Today representatives of FEMA joined Director Judah and the teams.

Director Judah knows what it takes to qualify for all assistance available from FEMA and the federal government. There are certain steps that have to be taken in order to make sure the citizens of this area get's every ounce of help available.

But Director Judah, the Houston County Commission or any other municipal Mayor or commissioner, or Senator or State Representative from Alabama are not the final decisions makers. That rests at the feet of FEMA ( Federal Emergency Management Agency ).

But the citizens of the wiregrass need to know, Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah and Geneva County Emergency Management Director Misty Wise have the people's best interest in mind. They, together with Alabama Emergency Management and FEMA are working many hours making sure all that can be done is done.

Stay tuned. More teams will be out Saturday. They will take Sunday off ( except for the staff of Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management ) and hit the ground again on Monday.

So you will see assessment teams all over.

DO NOT - DO NOT allow people to do work for you that are not vetted and checked out. Do not let people tarp your house or cut your tree until there are clear understandings IF any charges for the services. Emergency Management has received calls of some crews working and charging large prices for work. If someone shows up call your local law enforcement.
