Congratulations to Officer Jason Neal for being recognized as the Exchange Club Police Officer of the year. In August 2018, Jason responded to a call on a student “armed with a handgun” at one of our local schools. He immediately responded to the classroom and removed the student from the class.
He interviewed the suspect who attempted to divert his attention to a book bag in the classroom at his desk. Officer Neal did not fall for it. He searched the student and recovered a loaded handgun from him. Officer Neal’s experience, training and good judgement possibly prevented a potential deadly situation. His actions exemplify why we need experienced police officers in our schools.
