August 2018 – Aaron Cherry and Gracie Herbold are officially 2nd in the WORLD of High School Bass Fishing after competing in the BASSMASTER High School National Championship on Kentucky Lake in Paris, TN.

There was tension in the air at weigh in Saturday when the team from Briarwood Christian was the last boat to weigh in. Until that point the Headland teams’ 40 pound 10 ounce bag looked like it would hold out. While the scales went in favor of the other team, there was no shortage of joy and celebration amongst the many Headland fans in the crowd. This is a huge accomplishment for the pair. Prizes for the win included a $2500 general scholarship, a rod and reel combo from Abu Garcia. The final prize, thanks to Bethel University, was a $5000 per semester scholarship if they choose to attend there.

The team focused on ledges for the duration of the tournament and had 2 schools to rely on with the occasional foray in to some shallow waters to fill out a limit.

The action will be nationally televised on ESPNU on Saturday 8/25 at 11AM and Saturday 9/1 at 7 AM so make sure to set your DVR’s

Also from Headland were the Hudson Choquette and AsherPeters team that finished 83rd with 11 pounds and 7 ounces after 2 days of competition.

This concludes the 2017-2018 season for the Headland Bass Team. We are so thankful for all the support and help we get from family and sponsors. There is no way we could do it without you! Action heats up again on September 8th on Lake Seminole to start the 18-19 season.
