HOUSTON COUNTY:    On Friday Houston County Jail officials are reported to have searched for 5 hours for a inmate who went to court on Friday.

The inmate, Jaquana Shantel Reed, black female age 22, had a court appearance before 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Larry Anderson. Reed was the last person to appear before Judge Anderson on Friday.

Reed was revoked from Community Corrections while serving a sentence for Theft of Property. The family has questions of why Reed was revoked and has said there is a possible connection between the inmate and the victim.

The Judge saw Reed and she was returned to the Houston County Jail.

Inmates are transported wearing leg iron shackles around the ankle, belly chains and handcuffs through the belly chains. They are transported in vans that contains a steel self contained cage inside the van. There are no windows in the van and only the doors on the back of the van. There are doors on the back of the van but when you open the back door there is another door to open to enter inmate cage.

Reports over the weekend from the Houston County Jail the Correction Officials searched the jail and the inmate pod area for the inmate Friday. Not from authorities but within the jail reports are the search went on for about 5 hours. Correction Officials looked all in the cell areas, under the bunks and everywhere in the jail. Again, those reports are UNCONFIRMED by Houston County Sheriff officials.

The temperatures, according t WDHN TV - 18 Meterologist the temperatures Friday were in the low 90's. Inside a locked vehicle with no air conditioner the temperatures could easily reach 120 degrees very quickly.

The inmate was located. The inmate was carried to the jail medical unit where again UNCONFIRMED by authorities the inmate was given a IV and returned to her cell. She was not transported to the hospital to be checked.

Today Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza said a internal investigation was being conducted. The results of that investigation would be turned over the the 20th Judicial Circuit District Attorney.

However, since a child died Friday in Dothan after being locked in a vehicle, possible accidentally, the results of the investigation should be released to the public. If that had been an individual and someone charged the results would be released. Just because it involves a law enforcement agency, the release should be the same.

FOLKS...there is no doubt in my mind that this was not an intentional act and was merely accidental.

VIDEO BELOW IS SOMEWHAT SIMILAR TO THE HOUSTON COUNTY JAIL INMATE TRANSPORT VAN BUT NOT EXACT. THERE IS NO DIVIDING WALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INMATE TRANSPORT AREA.
