Local Artist Is Making Moves and Topping Charts

WIREGRASS, ALABAMA:        One local woman is making moves in the music industry by heading to an awards competition in Tennesse in March.

Rylee Austin of Greenville, Alabama, submitted video auditions to the Alabama Music Association in hopes of continuing to the national competition in March in Pigeon Forge, Tennesse. 

Austin was recently notified that she won the Alabama Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year Award for traditional country as a state finalist.

She will advance to compete in the National North America County Music Association International (NACMAI) Finals in March of 2024.

Austin’s love of music began during her childhood. Her parents bought Austin her first guitar when they discovered her vocal capabilities and love for music and singing. 

At the young age of 9, Austin began playing guitar. 

At the age of 19, Austin joined the band Lone Survivor with some great musicians who took her under their wings and showed her what a profession in music was like and how to work with a band. 

Her bandmates during that time were Ronny Shiver, Frank Campbell, Marty Mauldin, Kevin Howell, and Hal Cobb. They became her family. 

When her band came to an end, Austin started doing solo acoustic shows.

She has changed career paths throughout her life, but she has always been led back to the music life where she is most content. 

In February of this year, Austin signed with Grace Records Nashville and released her debut album "My Side" on August 3 of this year.

She currently has the number 9 spot single in the Top 100 Independent Country Music Charts as reported by Cashbox Magazine.
