DOTHAN:

DOTHAN CITY SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE ALMOST $500,000 IN TECHNOLOGY AND SECURITY FUNDING STATE REP. PAUL LEE ANNOUNCES

State Rep. Paul Lee (R - Dothan) on Friday announced that Dothan City schools will soon receive almost $500,000 in new funding that may be used for school security enhancements, classroom technology, and other critical needs.

Lee announced earlier this week that Houston County schools will also be awarded roughly $340,000 in funding for the same purposes and needs.

He released the following statement along with his announcement:

“The approximately $840,000 in new, combined funding that was secured for schools in Dothan and Houston County will go far toward ensuring our students, teachers, and administrators are secure from harm, and it will help purchase the tools, resources, and technology necessary to prepare our children for the 21st Century workforce.

These funds may also be used to complete needed repairs and maintenance, and upgrade bus fleets to ensure safe transportation to school in the morning and back home in the afternoon.

Even before this funding was secured, both Dothan and Houston County schools experienced increased appropriations that allowed new teachers to be hired, new buses to be purchased, a generous pay raise to be awarded to educators, and additional dollars to flow directly into the classroom. Education retirees also received a one-time bonus check in order to thank them for their years of service.
Alabama is clearly on the right track as evidenced by this significant increase in funding for technology, security, and critical maintenance.

As a state representative, I was proud to have played a role in securing this funding for our Wiregrass schools.”
