Marianna Police Department is Investigating a Accidental Shooting

On August 25th, 2018 at approximately 8:20pm officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the 4200 Block of St. Andrews Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had a gunshot wound to the wrist. The victim was transported to a hospital out of state to receive treatment for the injury.


During the investigation of the shooting, officers obtained statements from the victim that indicated the shooting was accidental. Officers discovered that two juveniles along with the victim were inside the residence. One of the juveniles was playing with the firearm and it accidently discharged.


Investigators made contact with both juveniles and were able to determine that the shooting was in fact accidental. Investigators located two firearms in a wooded area behind the residence where the shooting took place. Both firearms are believed to be stolen and is currently under investigation by the Marianna Police Department.
