On 01/26/2019 at approximately 8:49 am the Marianna Police Department received a 911 call in reference to several subjects armed with handguns in the area of the Triple C Car Wash, located on Orange Street in the City of Marianna. The caller reported that a verbal disturbance had quickly turned violent when several became armed with handguns. Upon arrival of officers several subjects were located in the street and in front of the business. Multiple individuals were detained and checked for weapons during the course of the investigation and a search of the surrounding area was conducted for firearms, but none were located.

While on scene officers questioned one of the subjects believed to be involved in the altercation. This individual stated that the altercation stemmed from him being physically attacked several minutes earlier while sitting outside his residence, located on Eva Mae Street. He stated that while sitting inside a parked car a red four door Cadillac was observed approaching the area. Suddenly 6 subjects exited the Cadillac and pulled him from the vehicle. Several of the subjects then physically attacked him and then got back into the Cadillac and fled the area.

The subject involved in the altercation and the female acquaintance drove to the location on Orange Street and observed the same subjects from the earlier altercation standing next to the red Cadillac. He explained that he then confronted the subjects but denied possessing any firearms and alleged the other group of subjects were armed, but fled through the woods behind the car wash when they heard the sirens of responding law enforcement. They last observed them running west, across Eva Mae Street.

At this time the incident is an ongoing investigation with charges forthcoming to those involved. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Marianna Police Department at 526-3125 or Chipola Crime Stoppers at 850-526-5000 where they can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a reward for the information.
