City Strategic Plan Work Sessions
The Dothan City Commission will meet on February 22 and 23, 2019 with Lyle Sumek in work
sessions to discuss the City’s Strategic Plan.
The meetings will be held in the Board Room on 2nd Floor of the Dothan Civic Center beginning at 8:00 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. The public is invited to attend.
WAIT A MINUTE
The Press release from the City of Dothan failed to inform the Dothan City Department Heads will meet with Lyle Sumek on Thursday to discuss and justify their wants lists. All department heads have to attend and listen to every other department heads wants list.
Why does the Fire Chief need to listen to the Sewer Treatment plant Department Head's wants. Well, oh, never mind they are both dealing with the same material from the leadership. Sorry, my mistake.
HEY LYLE ? ? ?
One year ago Dothan City Manager Mike West announced to the public his plans to retire as City Manager of Dothan Alabama. That was about February 21, 2018.
Around May 5, 2018 the Mayor ( Lyle, please convince Mark he "IS" the Mayor, Chief Executive Officer of the City of Dothan ) and 6 dwarfs ( Commissioners ) hired Slavin Management Consultants to help them hire a City Manager.
To date, February 15, 2019, the Mayor and Six Dwarfs ( Commissioners ) have yet to hire a City Manager.
The former Garrison Commander from Ft. Rucker, as I understand, would have been a good choice. But the Mayor and six dwarfs could not get over a few minor issues.
The people of the City of Dothan can not get over the fact that for some 17 months nothing - nothing - nothing has happened in Dothan. We are at a complete halt and standstill.
Lyle, would you remind the 7 they only extended services of Mike West as Acting City Manager until April 30. After your meeting on the 23rd, that leaves about 66 days to hire a City Manager before West act ends.
Lyle, also ask for me a question. Dothan-Houston County constructed a $ 5 million dollar emergency operations center. The purpose was a joint emergency operations center for Police-Fire-EMS-EMA to operate in.
"I" send some Dothan officials to Wiregrass Electric Co-Op in Hartford Alabama to see their utility operation and emergency center.
Now the City of Dothan has authorized some $ 45,000.00 for the design of a emergency operations center, to include, a Dothan Fire Emergency Operations Center.
While in sam hill ( want to say why in the .... ) did we build a $ 5 million dollar emergency operations center if we are about to build a different emergency operations center. Can the City of Dothan Fire Department and Utility Department not play in the sand box with the others to make things happen? Are they that childish?
The purpose of me sending the Dothan officials was the "pay as you go" features that Wiregrass Electric Co-op offers. I heard Dothan Commissioners being beat up over utility deposits.
If they followed Wiregrass Electric example the commissioners would not get beat up by the oublic and it would better serve the public.
So Lyle ask these 7 some of these questions and get "intelligent and accurate" answers and not bull crap.
WORD TO COMMISSIONER ALBERT KIRKLAND - CAUTION - the last time I called you out on utilities you choked me in the Dothan Civic Center. Mr. Hugo Griggs and Jerry Corbin pulled your hands from my neck while you had me against the wall. CAUTION - DO NOT attempt that stunt ever again! No threat, just a friendly word of caution.
