The impact of Lt. Gary Venuti on the development and success of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office outstanding School Resource Officer Unit cannot be overstated.
A former Florida School Resource Officer (FASRO) SRO of the Year in 2012, he has served and helped guide the organization for nearly 24 years – an organization that has now achieved eight state and national SRO awards in the last eight years, with more to come; including being named Florida SRO Unit of the Year in both 2014 and 2019, as well a 2015 National SRO Model Agency.
Now Lt. Venuti’s expertise, dedication, and impact have earned him a FASRO “Lifetime Achievement Award”. “From his start as an OCSO SRO back in 1997, to his supervision of what we believe is one of the most highly decorated SRO Units in the country, Lt. Gary Venuti has consistently championed SROs as a combination of protectors, mentors, counselors, and role models for Okaloosa County’s students,” said Sheriff Larry Ashley.
“His impact is so positive and potent it has helped shape the lives of thousands of our children for the better. We invite you to watch this nomination video to see for yourself.”
