GENEVA COUNTY:     When you hear persons who are elected make the comment they have an “open door” policy, the question to be asked, really?

Most you are required to go through several barriers to even get the honor ( or lack thereof ) to be in their presence. Just attempt to get into the Dothan Civic Center!!!

Well Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms has the true definition of “open door“ policy.

You enter the Geneva County Courthouse. Yes, you have to pass security check point because all courthouses, by order of Montgomery, have security in order for the register voter peasants to enter the building. 

You enter the courthouse, turn right to the end of the hall, take a left to get to the Sheriff Office. When you turn left you are looking directly into the face of Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms. To enter the administrative offices you get to Sheriff Tony Helms office and turn right. Three steps from the Administrative Office you are in Sheriff Helms office.

If the door is closed that means Sheriff Helms is out of the office or in a private meeting with someone. Otherwise, if Sheriff Helms is there his door is open. The only person you are required to pass is the front door of the courthouse security which is mandated by some person(s) in Montgomery.

So Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms has the true meaning of ”open door” policy.
