DOTHAN:    On Tuesday Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba and members of the Dothan City Commission and Dothan workforce met Dothan’s future City Manager.

In a unanimous decision without any public discussion on Tuesday, Mayor Saliba and members of the Dothan Commission hired Kevin Cowper from Auburn Alabama. He is scheduled to begin on April 29, 2019.

This afternoon the Dothan Department Heads and some of the workforce got to meet with Mr. Cowper in a social setting.

Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba promised the citizens of Dothan Alabama a meet and greet with the candidates before they were hired. That never happened.

The only meet and greet was one provided for department heads and certain Dothan workforce. But never as promised a meet and greet for the public.

Government in secret at their finest moments.

Government telling you one thing and then doing just the opposite.

Cowper has good references and good reports. We have had him under surveillance and watched some of the way he has handled things. We have had boots on the ground and checked him out. He has had good reviews.

So perhaps Kevin Cowper will do a good job.

One URGENT business that Cowper needs to handle. The Mayor and Dothan Commission approve for Dothan’s IT Director, Jack Mason, who lives in Jackson County Florida but drives to and from Dothan each day, to fly out of town to a seminar.

Jack Mason and Paul Smith were approved to travel to Central Square2019 in San Antonio Texas. The cost of the trip was $ 5,158.00. The trip was approved by the Dothan Mayor and Dothan Commissioners in January.

The trip was for Sunday March 17, 2019 through Wednesday March 20, 2019.

Well oh Jack did not make it to the airport in time and missed his flight. So he did not go.

So Dothan wasted the money. Notice it was never mentioned in the commission meeting. Wondering how much was lost by the City of Dothan because Jack was to lazy to get to the airport on time to fly out. What does he care, it is OPM - Other People’s Money.

Perhaps Cowper has a few pressing issues when he takes over the reigns:

(1) FIRE Todd McDonald, Planning and Zoning Division or appoint him a guardian ad lidem.

(2) Out your foot square between the buttocks of that quack in the Dothan Business License Department and boot him out the door. He is the worse thing for the City of Dothan business and I am surprised he has not gotten the crap beat out of him yet.

(3) Fire Jack Mason and get a real IT Director in. It took former Dothan City Manager Mike West over four years to find Mason. And West did like his "most important hire" when he hired his first Police Chief - messed that one up.

(4) And straighten out Dothan Municipal Court. Judge Gordon is a nice lady with a good personality. But someone needs to take the court system over or abolish it. Awful management and judgeship.

For the record, I love Rose as a person. But she is a failure as Judge. Will not return messages. But she has spent time at the Police Department impound lot though looking at cars - or perhaps...

See you March 29, 2019 Kev

Mayor Mark Saliba and Six members of the Dothan Commission...what a awesome public meet and greet of the City Manager candidates...NOT.

As long as Kevin met the underground Dothan Mayor David Parsons and a couple of other main ingredients of Dothan, that is fine. Who cares about the common folks, right?

You did get Matt Parker, David Parsons, John Watson, John Downs, Bob Woodall, and Bob Theune’s approval? If not, problems.

Kevin Dorsey, Janesky Fleming, Albert "The Choker" Kirkland, Mayor Mark Saliba, John Ferguson, Beth Kenward and David Crutchfield - thanks for the meet and greet with the City Manager candidates, NOT!
