COFFEE and PIKE COUNTY AL:   This afternoon the Honorable Thomas Head, Circuit Judge for the 12th Judicial Circuit ( Coffee and Pike Counties ) administered the Oath of Office to Sonny Reagan as the new Circuit Judge.

In a packed courtroom in the Enterprise Division of the 12th Judicial Circuit, a packed courtroom of family, friends, attorney's, law enforcement, church members, and citizens, both Judge Head and Judge Reagan gave great testimony to what the responsibility of being a Judge consists of.

Thomas Head has served several decades as Circuit Judge in the 12th Judicial Circuit. I have had the pleasure of being in his courtroom many times in a professional capacity. You will not find a more genuine, knowledgeable and courteous person, or scholar of law then Thomas Head. The registered voters of the 12th Judicial Circuit can say to Judge Head " well done though faithful servant " of his tenure as Circuit Judge. He will retire effective this next week.

Sonny Reagan was originally from Enterprise. He served with the Alabama Attorney General's Office. During Alabama Governor Bob Riley's tenure he saw the person that Sonny Reagan was. Even though I do not care for Bob Riley, I have to agree that he selected a very honorable person to serve him as his Chief Legal Advisor. Very skilled trial attorney, very calm person, very strategic in his decision making. While we did not agree on all subject matters, he was never rude or unkind, very professional and courteous.

After Sonny Reagan's tenure with Bob Riley he returned to the Attorney General's Office. It was during the Luther Strange administration. Reagan, being a honest and trustworthy man, one who took his oath and service for real, knew it was time to retire from the Attorney General's Office. In 2015 Reagan returned to his home town of Enterprise Alabama.

Reagan entered private practice. He practiced law and when Circuit Judge Thomas Head announced his retirement, Sonny Reagan decided to seek election as Circuit Judge. And the registered voters of Coffee and Pike County elected Sonny Reagan as Circuit Judge.

Today Reagan said the ceremony was not about Sonny Reagan. The courthouse, the courtroom, is not Sonny Reagan's. It is the people of Coffee and Pike County's courthouse. That as a Judge, every person which walks into the courtroom is to be treated with respect and the Judge being courteous. That he took not only a oath of office in front of people, more importantly he has taken a oath before GOD with his hand on the Bible that he would perform the duties of Circuit Judge with the principles established for the court.

Reagan made it clear he is just the person who sits in the people's courtroom, in the people's courthouse.

Sonny Reagan is a fine man. He is one that the citizens of Coffee and Pike County will respect. Everyone does not win in court. Someone normally leaves upset because all of the rulings are not in their favor.

But what people expect and will get under the Sonny Reagan's tenure, is their fair day in court. Their chance for their side to be heard and a chance to present their case for a fair and impartial decision. A decision based on the law and the facts as presented.

Some colleagues of Sonny Reagan who worked with him in the Alabama Attorney General's Office were present today. They presented to Judge Reagan a framed picture of the Alabama Attorney General's Office with a plaque presented on this date at his swearing in as Circuit Court Judge. The four gentleman talked with fondness of their relationship with Sonny Reagan and what type of quality person he is.

Congratulations to Sonny Reagan as he begins his tenure as Circuit Court Judge for the 12th Judicial Circuit.

Congratulations to Thomas Head as he begins days to do what he wants to do.
