With our afternoon forecast update today, we have not made any major changes to the previous forecast and the email from yesterday afternoon. We are still actively monitoring a strong cold front that will move through fairly quickly from Tuesday morning to late Tuesday evening.
We continue to have only rain in our forecast for the entire area. Rain should overspread from west to east starting around 7AM EST/6AM CST in the west and 11AM EST in the east. Rain will end in the afternoon and evening (see attached graphic). There could still be a few flurries in southeast Alabama as the rain is ending.
Temperatures will quickly drop through the night with lows in the lower 20s to around 30 (right around bus stop time) with wind chills in the upper teens to lower 20s. See the graphics for more detail. There could also be a few slick spots overnight especially on bridges and overpasses.
We do not expect any widespread or significant impacts with this event.
