On November 2, 1920 James Tucker Fite was born into this world.
Twenty one years later while serving in the Air Force during WWII....T-Sgt. Fite was captured in the fall of the Philippines in 1942 and spent 3 1/2 years in Japanese prison camps.
Sgt. Fite while captive was in the
Bataan Death March.
On April 9, 1942 tens of thousands of American and Filipino Soldiers were surrendered to Japanese forces and were forced to march more than 60 miles in the scorching heat through the Philippine jungles.
Thousands died and those who survived faced the hardships of prisoner of war camps.
After 3 1/2 years of being physically and mentally tortured Sgt. Fite was liberated from a Japanese prison camp near Tokyo by the Army Air Force.
Amazingly after being tortured all of those years..Sgt. Fite remained in the Air Force and retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force.
The young man’s love for his country NEVER EVER WAVERED!!
Until his death he always flew the American Flag in front of his home.
James Tucker Fite...a name many have never heard of, Was and IS an American Hero.
On January 25, 2001, God called Colonel Fite HOME.
It was an honor to place this red, white and blue floral arrangement with United States Of America flags at the Angel Of Hope for Col. Fite.
