TAYLOR: During Joel Napier's tenure as Mayor of Taylor Alabama, the City of Dothan met with the area mayor's informing them the City of Dothan would be increasing the sewage fees on each municipality.
RSN was at the meeting over a decade or more ago. And the costs were going to be tremendous to continue to be serviced by the City of Dothan, but the municipalities were going to be held hostage by Dothan.
The Mayors were mad. But as with most elected public servants, all they do was complain and no one took the reigns to get something done.
The Town of Taylor underwent a couple of Mayors until Billy Snell was elected. He and the members of the Town Council were briefed on the problem.
If you know Billy Snell, he is a mover and shaker, the man does not have a shy bone in his body, and not afraid to tackle issues. So Mayor Billy Snell and members of the Town of Taylor went to work on the issue and began to work to solve the Town of Taylor issues for the sewer plant.
Mayor Snell and members of the Town Council were met with some stiff competition of complaints on the sewer treatment plant. But they continued to try and answer the questions of the citizens of Taylor as best as possible and calm the fears.
Today, with the help of the Local Legislative Delegation - State Senator Donnie Chesteen, Representatives Paul Lee, Jeff Sorrells, Steve Clouse and Dexter Grimsley, the Houston County Commission Chairman ( he says 119 days left in office ) Mark Culver, Commissioners D-1 Curtis Harvey, D-2 Dough Sinquefield,, D-3 Ricky Herring, D-4 Brandon Shoupe, his Town Clerk, each council member for Taylor and others, the Town of Taylor held ground breaking for the $ 6 million dollar sewer treatment plant in Taylor Alabama.
Mayor Billy Snell was excited that today has finally arrived. It will take 14 months to construct. But Mayor Snell said the positive impact for Taylor residents, and future growth of residents and businesses, Taylor is sitting in a great position and with the Sewer Treatment Plant they help control their own destiny rather than being controlled.
Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce Matt Parker was unable to be present but played some key rolls.
We tried to get some TIK TOK Video but am looking to someone in Houston to assist me learning TIK TOK or I would have some video of today's event. Perhaps I can learn that in the future.
Congratulations to the Town of Taylor for your beginning.
Mayor Snell also introduced a new logo for the Town of Taylor. Forgot the young man's name who designed it but it is in the video. He did a great job.
