The Dothan Education Foundation would like to thank everyone that came out to our inaugural AMAZING FundRACEr on October 27. With the DEF’s AMAZING start and finish line sponsors, Mike Schmitz Automotive Group and Bama RV, and a host of other sponsors, supporters and volunteers, the Dothan Education Foundation raised more than $60,000 to support its mission of unifying and mobilizing community resources for the success of Dothan City School students.

Patterned after the CBS television show, The Amazing Race, 35 teams of two raced across Downtown Dothan and other Dothan locations to complete “AMAZING” challenges at a series of stops to earn clues that point them to their next destination.

 Some of the featured challenges included Southeast Alabama Veterinary Clinic, Aunt Katie’s Garden, Martin Environmental and Cherry & Irwin. As the race progressed teams were eliminated at stationed pit stops which built a climactic final challenge between the top two teams, The Wild Bores and The Cougars.

Ultimately, The Wild Bores, Adam Thomas and Shawn Riley, edged ahead to win $1,000 that will be donated to Northview High School and the Northview High School Marching Band.
