HOLMES COUNTY, FLORIDA: On November 22, deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Highway 81 in Ponce De Leon after seeing a vehicle run a stop sign. Contact was made with the driver who was identified as Darren Prichett of Birmingham, AL.
During the interaction, deputies observed a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Pritchett told deputies that there was indeed marijuana in the vehicle, but he did not have a medical marijuana card.
A probable cause search of the vehicle produced a small bag containing marijuana, meth, and cocaine. Deputies also found a handgun under the driver’s seat. No serial number could be located on the gun. A check with dispatch revealed that Prichett is a convicted felon and does not have a valid driver’s license.
He was arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail and charged with driving while license is suspended or revoked, possession of meth, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and altering the serial number on a firearm.
