WASHINGTON COUNTY FL:  7:56 PM.   Florida Highway Patrol has Highway 77 near Talton Drive closed. This area is near Wausau area.


Reports are three lineman were run over. According to FACEBOOK posts of people in traffic the driver fled on foot.


According to Florida Highway Patrol Live Crash Report there is a fatality on the scene.


Facebook posts indicate law enforcement are searching for driver.


Florida Highway Patrol has closed Highway 77.

Reports are all three lineman were killed. The driver has been apprehended.


Reports are the driver veered off the highway and struck the lineman who were working to restore power.


Reports are one is local and two are from out of state.

TWO CONFIRMED FATALITIES IN HIT AND RUN; SUSPECT IN CUSTODY



At approximately 6:42 pm, 3 linemen were hit by a vehicle on S.R. 77 near Talton Drive, as they were working to restore power lost due to Hurricane Michael.



The driver, who initially fled on foot, was spotted by a Chipley Police Officer and has since been identified as John Roland Goedtke, 37, of Tampa Florida. Goedtke was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.



The Florida Highway Patrol is the lead investigative agency in this case. Multiple charges pending at this time.

Last evening we reported all three lineman were killed. This morning Florida Highway Patrol has released two were killed and a third in critical condition.


Mr. James Ussery, age 60, of Chipley was one the fatalities in the hit and run. 


Mr. George Cecil, age 52, of North Carolina was the second fatality.


Florida Highway Patrol has not identified the third lineman, but he is 22 years old, from North Carolina and reported in critical condition.


An arrest has been made in the case.


The Florida Highway Patrol report states that a vehicle was towing a UHaul and was traveling northbound on Highway 77 . Three power company employees were working on the power poles off of State Road 77 and Talton Drive in the ditch. The vehicle began to travel in a northeastern direction and began to travel on the eastern grass shoulder of State Road 77. The vehicle continued traveling on the eastern grass shoulder.The vehicle traveled across Talton Drive and collided with three pedestrian's. The vehicle continued traveling in a northern direction on the eastern grass shoulder. The vehicle came to a final rest in the eastern ditch facing in a northern direction the trailer came to a final rest behind the vehicle facing in a northwestern direction.
