JACKSON COUNTY FL. - HOUSTON COUNTY AL. - DOTHAN AL. - 5:25 PM     A 2 year old child drown at Compass Lake a few minutes before this article is written.

Quick actions from by standers, the child was snatched from the water. The child was not breathing. The bystanders initiated CPR.

Jackson County Fire - Rescue and Jackson County Sheriff Deputies were quick on the scene. The helicopter from Marianna was unable to fly. The emergency units made the quick decision to ground transport. This was a load and go emergency.

Jackson County Sheriff Deputies provided a law enforcement escort to the Alabama - Florida line. Jackson County Sheriff Deputies notified Houston County Sheriff Department who lined up from the Alabama - Florida line, intercepting the ambulance escorting it north to Southeast Health.

Houston County Sheriff Department notified Dothan Police Department who picked up with Houston County the Jackson County ambulance blocking intersections all the way from South Oates to Southeast Health.

When doing CPR and treating a critical patient, especially a child, the last thing the ambulance needs, most especially the treating paramedics in the back of the ambulance, is start/stop/change lanes getting around traffic.

Motorists hear the sirens and make evasive actions, suddenly stop. The EMS or law enforcement traveling emergency is often times worse than Atlanta Georgia morning traffic.

PRAYERS to the doctors and nurses as the child is at the hospital. THANKS to the by standers, Jackson County Fire - Rescue, Jackson County Sheriff Donnie Edenfield and Jackson County Sheriff Deputies, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza and Houston County Sheriff Deputies, and Dothan Police Chief Will Benny and Dothan Police Officers.

Also thanks to the 911 Center in Jackson County, Houston County and Dothan.

PLEASE LIFT SPECIAL PRAYERS for this child

UPDATED @ 7:20 PM

UNCONFIRMED by authorities but sources say the child is stable. The child is going to be transported to Children's Hospital in Birmingham to be closely monitored and further testing.

PRAYER WORKS - so please continue to pray for this precious child, the child's family, the physicians, nurses, speciality departments, support staff, even the ones who clean the rooms as they work to care for this child. It takes a TEAM.

And the TEAM started with bystanders who pulled this precious two year old from the water and initiated CPR. The Jackson County Fire - Rescue ambulance, who had one medic in the back and one driver. The sole medic worked on this child from Compass Lake to Dothan.

Jackson County 911 who took the call, Jackson County Sheriff Donnie Edenfield and his team of Jackson County Sheriff Deputies, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza and his teamof Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Dothan Police Chief Will Benny and his team of Dothan Police Officers, the staff of Houston County 911 and Dothan 911. The coordination was awesome.

The emergency department staff, nurses, doctors, lab, MRI, x-ray, those who keep the rooms clean. Those who ministered to the child's family.

Now to the EMS Ambulance or Survival Flight that will fly this child to Children's Hospital in Birmingham.

PLEASE PRAY for all involved. Because it looks good and it all started with civilian bystanders jumping in LEARN CPR ... from enjoyment on a beautiful day at the lake to saving a child... what a TEAM!!!!

UPDATED @ 11:03 PM.

In the bottom photo you see Survival Flight as they were flying fro Southeast Health to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. The two ( 2 ) year old child is now at Children’s Hospital and Survival Flight has already lifted off and flying back to their home station at Headland.

The aircraft all in this area fly more than you are aware. RSN follows the medical helicopters from all around and they seem to always be in the air. A great and valuable resource tool.

Most do not know, and often times a lot of the emergency responders are not aware… but today Survival Flight could have been launched and landed somewhere ahead of the path the ambulance was traveling. Since CPR was in progress the flight medics would have boarded the ambulance and rode in with the ambulance and the pilot would have flown on into the Hospital. A flight medic is trained above a paramedic and they can even take over a patient’s breathing. So if unable to meet on the scene and a load and go, the aircraft can meet the ambulance in the transport path.

The Jackson County Fire - Rescue Paramedic did an outstanding job and he/she is to be complimented for their fantastic job performance today.
