We do have scene pictures but I am not posting them at this time due to the seriousness of the accident and want to make sure all notifications have been made that need to be made before scene pictures are posted.

UPDATED @ 10:39 PM

Alabama Department of Law Enforcement - Trooper Division is in charge of investigating the accident. Colonel Charles Ward was on the scene. Colonel Ward is Commander of the entire State of Alabama - Alabama Department of Public Safety - Trooper Division.

This accident is a fatality accident. The initial reports of a child being in a vehicle, the child is safe and okay.

The first call to Ozark - Dale County 911 apparently was a wreck with no injuries at Highway 231 and Highway 51. The Troopers are investigating the details.

That call was updated minutes later to a motor vehicle accident with injuries, pedestrian struck by a vehicle, a infant inside a vehicle, vehicle on fire. So the call went from routine to major in seconds.

UNCONFIRMED by some civilians on the scene, apparently there was a two vehicle accident without injuries. A person exited their vehicle and was then struck by another vehicle that was traveling down the roadway. That person from the first accident that exited the vehicle  is the fatality that died on arrival to Dale Medical Center.

Again, that information is UNCONFIRMED by authorities and came from civilians on the scene via TEXT RICKEY STOKES. We do have scene photographs but will not post them until in the morning when we are sure all family has been notified.

Involved in the emergency response, Ozark - Dale County 911, Ariton Rescue, Marley Mill Volunteer Fire, Ozark EMS, Ozark Fire, Dale County Sheriff Department to include Sheriff Wally Olson and Chief Deputy Mason Bynum, Colonel Charles Ward of the Alabama Department of Law Enforcement - Trooper Division, several Alabama Department of Law Enforcement - Troopers, Life Flight, Alabama Department of Transportation Officials.

No names have been released. In fact have not even attempted to find out because all is fresh and I realize authorities are working details between the scene, hospital, notifications of family so I have left them alone. Will post scene pictures in the morning and find out the names then.

PRAYERS LIFTED for all involved.

UPDATED @ 8:45 AM

The person killed has been identified as 51 year old Johnny Frank Downing
