UPDATED at 2:32 PM... Murder On West Powell Street in Dothan In Early Morning Hours

DOTHAN:     Somewhere around 2 AM Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Police - Dothan Fire and local EMS to the 500 block of West Powell Street to a firearm assault.

When emergency units arrived a black male subject was found in the roadway and had a gunshot wound. The victim was on the sidewalk in front of  the residence of 513 West Powell Street and a large crowd was present.

Dothan Police secured the scene and Dothan Fire and local EMS was able to allow Fire and EMS to enter.

The victim was transported to a local hospital. Dothan Police sent several officers to the hospital.

The gunshot victim was pronounced dead in the Emergency Department of a local hospital.

Dothan Police Criminal Investigation was called to the scene. Crime Scene Tech's were called to the scene.

The victim had just left the house to walk to the store when he returned running. He was found on the sidewalk in front of the house suffering a gunshot wound. According to people in the area no indication of a struggle or issue, just a random shooting UNCONFIRMED at this time from the Police.

UNCONFIRMED before this shooting someone was shot on Chickasaw Street. At the time of this writing that has not been confirmed.

Dothan Police continue to investigate incidents of both the victim at Flowers Hospital and the West Powell Street murder.

The victim at Flowers Hospital was treated and released.

At 7:10 AM about 6 Criminal Investigator vehicles are parked at the Criminal Investigation Division of Dothan Police Department.

Dothan Police are investigating an early morning shooting that occurred on the 500 Block of W. Powell Street. Around 2:30 am this morning a 55 year old male was shot outside of his residence. Authorities responded and the victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Police are continuing the investigation and more will be made available as we can release it.

There was a shooting on Chickasaw Street. It has been confirmed. Awaiting more details.

So that makes: (1) Shooting in Dothan on Chickasaw Street (2) Shooting/Murder on West Powell Street (3) Edged Weapons Assault that appeared at Flowers Hospital (4) another edged weapon assault, do not know the location (5) edged weapon assault in Columbia, which may have occured in Dothan.

Dothan Police Criminal Investigation Division is on it.
