Arvie Gaston Tew


Mr. Arvie Gaston Tew, a resident of Eufaula, Alabama, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Florida Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City, Florida. He was 86 years old.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cross Baptist Church in Eufaula with Rev. Jeff Hines and Rev. Jim Hill officiating. The burial will follow in the Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville with Glover Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Cross Baptist Church-33 Early Street Eufaula, Alabama 36027.

Gaston was born on May 9, 1939, in Clio, Alabama to the late David Alexander and Bessie Mae Holland Tew. He retired from the Alabama Department of Public Safety where he worked 11 years with the Alabama State Highway Patrol and 18 years with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation. Gaston enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a member of Cross Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, and Building Committee Member.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vernon Wayne Tew and Loma O. Tew; sister, Margaret Tew.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 62 years, Sherry Naomi Johns Tew; son, Neil G. Tew (Nancy) of Montgomery, Alabama; daughter, Michelle Hafner (Bob) of Panama City, Florida; brother, David Bradley Tew (Mary Ann) of Mcdonough, Georgia; sister, Sandra Cannon of Brundidge, Alabama; four grandchildren, Alicia Cotta (Chris), Celia Stiltner (Ryan), Erin Hafner (Tyler Fondren), and London Tew.

Asked to serve as pallbearers are Charles Ward, Jimmy King, Tyler King, Paul Richardson, William Tew, Sam Williams, Victor Wozny, and Kenneth Kelley.
