Barbara Joyce (Butler) Turvin, age 85, a resident of Ashford, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Friendship Church in Taylor, Alabama with Reverend Scott Turvin officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00am until 11:00am at the church.

Barbara was born to the late Hubert Beasley and Jewel McNeil Butler on May 31, 1941, in Houston County, Alabama. She married the love of her life, Limmie Gene Turvin, and shared a life together for sixty years before his passing in 2001. Barbara was a very hard worker, holding down numerous jobs and many titles. She was a licensed counselor. Her hobbies included walking, attending women’s ministries, and church fellowships. She loved going to the mountains, fishing, shopping, and being a part of the Respite Care Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Dothan. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Friendship Church in Taylor, Alabama for many years before her passing. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Turvin; sons, Donald Wayne Turvin and Micheal Turvin; three brothers, Joe Butler, Lonzo Butler, and Buddy Butler.

Left to cherish her memories are two sons, Tony Turvin (Terri) of Ashford and Scott Turvin (Tonja) of Headland; two daughters, Pam Wright (Tim) of Ashford and Regina Richardson of Rehobeth; grandchildren, Erica Gendreau, Jeanne Johnson (Isaic), Brittany Dayne, Nicole Windham (Charlie), Mistijo Wright, Rana Wright, Karri Chabazz, Kaci Douglas, Blake Turvin, Tonni Lynn Graves (Brandon), Terra Mergl (Kenny), Chelsea Pynes (Chase), Caitlin Lee (Stephen), Joshua Turvin (Alex), Careah Bailey (Tristn), Rachel Turvin, Jada Vickers, Daniel Vickers; great grandchildren, Cameron Hicks, Gatlyn Graves, Aubrey Graves, Ava Chase, Lakyn, Hallee Scott Pynes, Clayton Lee, Ellori Lee, Barrett Turvin, Desti Jo Turvin, Sutton Bailey, Alivia Windham, Jacob Windham, Natalie Windham, Larenzo Bryant, and Avi Vickers; sister, Edna Weeks of Geneva.
