Lucedale Ms. Man Arrested on Multiple Charges

On 10, March 2013, officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Jefferson Street in Marianna Florida just south of the railroad tracks. While issuing a traffic citation, officers called for a K-9 to be in route to the location for a K-9 search of the vehicle. Overhearing the request for K-9, the driver of the suspect vehicle snatched the vehicle into drive and accelerated from the traffic stop. One of the officer’s was standing at the passenger door talking with the occupants, and as the driver accelerated, the officer was dragged several feet by the vehicle. The officer was uninjured. A vehicle pursuit ensued northward on Jefferson Street crossing Lafayette Street, Kelson Avenue and headed out Caverns Road. After Crossing the Chipola River Bridge, the vehicle suddenly stopped on the shoulder of the road. A felony stop of the vehicle was made and both the driver and passenger were taken into custody. After completing the investigation the passenger was released and the driver identified as Michael Allen Touchard was arrested. Touchard was transported to the Jackson County Jail Facility where he will be held awaiting first appearance.
