SLOCOMB: 08:56 AM Geneva County 911 dispatched Slocomb Fire to Arrington Street in Slocomb to a structure fire.
Reports are fire on Arrington Street behind the high school, a blue trailer, smoke coming from out of the roof.
The first units to arrive on the scene reported power lines down and on fire and requested Geneva County 911 to notify the power company.
As units arrived from Slocomb, Malvern and Fadette, Slocomb Fire advised the power lines were producing fire.
At the arrival Rehobeth Fire and Hartford Fire were requested. In a short time Slocomb Fire Chief Kyle Hovey modified those instructions to Rehobeth maintaining the east end of Geneva County for backup support in the event of another fire and Hartford Fire the west end. So the "response" of Rehobeth and Hartford was halted for other emergencies that had not occurred yet.
Appears an active structure fire. Fireman are in an aggressive fire fighting mode. Slocomb Fire Chief Kyle Hovey in command.
Slocomb EMS on stand by for the safety of the residents and fireman.
Matt Boster is rolling to the scene, this time as a news guy unless he arrives and they need additional manpower.
UPDATED @ 9:40 PM
Firefighters were able to get on the fire quickly but ran into several problems like double roofs and unable to make through the entire home from the front entrance.
As of this update Alabama Power still hasn’t arrived to cut the power off. This causes safety issues for firefighters. Arlington Command has requested Red Cross for the family.
