Mr. Burnice Havard Phillips of Samson, Alabama passed away Monday, April 28, 2025. He was 89 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 01, 2025, at Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Donnie Earles and Rev. Kevin Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m. Thursday and continue until time for service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church in his memory.

Mr. Havard was born on January 06, 1936, to the late W. M. and Elzie A. Carpenter Phillips. He was a lifelong and faithful member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for a number of years. He was a member of the Samson Masonic Lodge #624 and the Blue Lodge. He retired from Ft. Rucker after 38 years of service, retiring as an aircraft maintenance inspector. He served 4 years in the US Navy and in the Alabama National Guard for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, bird and coon hunting. When he wasn’t hunting and fishing, his passion was playing a good game of pool.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Weston Phillip Smith and two sisters, Chapell Ellenburg and Sarah Blair.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Shelby Jean Strickland Phillips of Samson, AL; four daughters, Cynthia Pittman (Robert), Gayla Bowden (Max), Lynn Smith (Chris Prescott), all of Samson, AL and Lydia Rogers (Shane) of Dothan, AL; 10 grandchildren, Broc Barnes (Lindsay), Bailey Herrera (Mike), Kelsie Alford, Kylie Weeks (Nick), Mikayla Cloud (Sean), Seth Rogers (Macy), Lane Pittman (Shaley), Bailey Fisher (Chris), Marty Bowden and Jake Bowden; 12 great grandchildren, Amelia Barnes, Luke Barnes, Cali Barnes, Jude Herrera, Harlan Herrera, RaeLee Thompkins, CharLee McCollough, Connor Dean, Hadley Dean, Khloe Weeks, Emmie James Rogers and Wrenley Mae Rogers; a number of special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
