Carole Miller Barfield

Mrs. Carole (Miller) Barfield, 77, a long-time resident of Ashford, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at her residence with her family by her side.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at Ashford City Cemetery with Reverend Vann Cooley officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Glover Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to, First Baptist Church of Columbia, 200 N. Main Street, Columbia, AL 36319.

Mrs. Carole was born July 18, 1948, in Dothan to the late William Thomas & Frances (Lynn) Miller. She was raised in Ashford, a place she called home all her life, and was a 1966 graduate of Ashford High School. In October of 1969, she married Kenneth Earl Barfield, and together they had three children, Heather, Kevin, and Brian. Carole worked as homemaker, taking care of her family and raising her children. Later in life, Carole took interest in public service, where she was elected to the Ashford City Council, serving 12 years as a Council Woman and Mayor Pro Tem. Carole was then elected and served as the Mayor of Ashford from 2018 to 2025. Outside of her public service, she enjoyed reading, word searches, spending time in her flower garden, and most importantly she loved her family and being with them. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia.

She is preceded by her parents; her brother, Rufus Alan Miller.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Barfield of Ashford; her daughter, Heather Lynn Barfield of Ashford; her two sons, Kevin Barfield (Sarah) of Elko, GA, and Brian Thomas Barfield of Ashford; her two grandchildren, Briana Barfield Wallace (Tyler) of Dothan, and Lily Caroline Barfield, Elko, GA; her two brothers, William Thomas Miller (Connie) of Bettendorf, IA, and Charles “Bob” Robert Miller of Ashford; her sister, Leneve Miller McCord of Ashford; her two sisters-in-law, Phoebe Fowler of Dothan, and Phyllis Skeen of Panama City, FL; several nieces and nephews; and Carole’s extended family, the citizens and employees from the City of Ashford.
