Each morning, initial appearances are held for individuals who have not made bond. By law, these individuals must be seen by a judge or magistrate within 48 to 72 hours of their arrest. Judge Lewis ensures compliance with this requirement—even while on holiday, he or another judge conducts initial appearances at the Houston County Jail. These proceedings are held via video from the jail to the courtroom.

HONORABLE JUDGE BENJAMIN LEWIS presides over one traffic case involving a DUI.

HONORABLE HOUSTON COUNTY CIRCUIT-CRIMINAL JUDGE HENRY “BUTCH” BINFORD:
Judge Binford has 94 Circuit Criminal cases today, including charges of first-degree kidnapping, abuse of a corpse, first-degree sexual abuse, capital murder, and first-degree robbery.
He also has five District Criminal cases, involving charges such as second-degree escape, three counts of possession/receipt of a controlled substance, and third-degree burglary.

HONORABLE HOUSTON COUNTY CIRCUIT-CIVIL JUDGE CHRISTOPHER K. RICHARDSON:
Presides over four Domestic Relations cases, including two contested divorces, one contempt/Rule NISI case, and one petition for protection from abuse.

HONORABLE HOUSTON COUNTY CIRCUIT-CIVIL JUDGE KEVIN MOULTON:
Handles one Domestic Relations case involving a petition to modify.
He also has three Circuit Civil cases: one equity/non-damages case, one motor vehicle negligence case, and one case involving bad faith, fraud, or misrepresentation.

HONORABLE HOUSTON COUNTY CIRCUIT-CIVIL JUDGE TODD DERRICK:
Presides over 14 Circuit Civil cases, including motor vehicle negligence, equity/non-damages cases, account collection, and one medical malpractice case.

HONORABLE HOUSTON COUNTY DISTRICT-CIVIL JUDGE LORI COLLIER INGRAM:
Oversees 12 Small Claims cases involving account collection and miscellaneous small claims.
Also handling five District Civil cases related to account collection, auto damages, general damages, and two miscellaneous domestic violence matters.


HENRY COUNTY:

HONORABLE HENRY COUNTY DISTRICT-CRIMINAL JUDGE SPENCER DANZEY:
Presides over nine Child Support cases, including two standard child support cases, one involving the Interstate Act under UIFSA, three contempt/Rule NISI cases, and two petitions to modify.
