DOTHAN… Miriam Elaine Brookins, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Thursday morning, October 23, 2025, at The Neighborhood at Grove Park. She was 78.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Van Clack officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Brookins was born in Dothan, Alabama to the late S.J. Woodham and Lauralene “Polly” Hodges Woodham. She lived her lifetime in the Dothan and Ashford, Alabama area. She was a 1965 graduate of Dothan High School. She was a cosmetologist and esthetician by trade and through the years owned and operated Miriam’s Hair Salon and Serenity Spa. She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31-woman, wife, mother and friend to all.  She always put the needs of others before her own and spent her life in service to others.  She loved to garden and grow flowers. She was an excellent cook and had a passion for cooking and gathering with immediate and extended family.  She loved her family with the biggest heart. She was a dedicated member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Brookins; her daughter, Miranda Watson; her sister, Stephanie White; sisters-in-law, Imogene Addison, Marilyn Waller and Pearla Johnson; and her brothers-in-law, David Lewis and Eugene Johnson.

Leaving to cherish her memories are her son, Larry W. “Crickett” Brookins II (Stephanie); her sisters, Olivia Jenkins (William), Robin Lewis, and Michele Phillips; her brother, Kevin Woodham; her brother-in-law, Jim White; her sister-in-law Glenda White (Jack); her grandchildren, Emma Brookins, Lydia Brookins, Amelia Brookins, Whitney Spray (Seth), and Brooke Watson; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be William Jenkins, Brian Scott, Jeremy, Scott, David Deese, Greg Wilson, and Greg Lewis.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of The Neighborhood at Grove Park for their excellent care and kindness over the last year.

Clark Peder McKee


Clark McKee, 88, who had been residing in Dothan Alabama, passed away attended to by medical staff, family members and friends on October 14, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. (CST), on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 866 N. Brannon Stand, Midland City, Alabama, 36350. For those who are unable to attend, live streaming is available, see below for information.

Clark was born on January 29, 1937, in Audubon Iowa to Vernon and Marie McKee, the first of three children. Clark grew up in Audubon and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. His parents owned a roller-skating rink and he was an excellent roller skater. He graduated in Orem, Utah then he went on to serve 7 years in the Navy as an electrician’s mate third class.  He was honorably discharged in 1961.

Clark studied the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, dedicated his life to serving Jehovah and was baptized. On January 27, 1962, Clark married Judy M. Redman in Ellensburg Washington. They had 5 children, Jeffrey, Pamela, Cherie, Charmen and Justin. Clark made his living working in the construction trades. He was a hard worker with many skills, which came in handy while living in areas with seasonal work. He was a good provider for his family. They lived in Washington, California, and Montana. Clark was known to be kind, generous, loving and sincere. Everyone who met Clark could not help but notice his good nature, smile, warmth and sense of humor. Family life centered around worship, ministry, friends helping others, enjoying fellowship, hobbies, outdoor activities and recreation. Clark enjoyed carving, making unique jewelry and other art which he gave to many through the years.

Clark was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Marie, and his younger brother Larry. Clark is survived by Judy, his wife of 63 years; sons, Jeff (Jodi) and Justin (Renee) and daughters, Pamela (Chad), Cherie and Charmen, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his sister, Joy Caroll. He very much enjoyed interacting with them all as time allowed. Clark enjoyed his nieces and nephews’ company and kept current with them through the years.

Clark was comforted and found encouragement, hope and tools for endurance in God’s future promises of no more death and no more pain. He enjoyed comforting others and sharing hope wherever he went. We anticipate welcoming him back to paradise here on earth, promised in Revelation 21:4.

Doyce Lavon Windham

Doyce Lavon Windham, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 78 in Samson, Alabama. Born on May 24, 1947, in Geneva County, Alabama, to parents J.W. Windham and Pearlie Mae Spears, both of whom predeceased him, along with his brother James Windham, Doyce grew to be a man of strong character and unwavering commitment to his family and country.

Doyce’s journey through life was marked by his loving marriage to his wife, Bettie Windham, a union that flourished for 58 years. Together, they built a family rooted in love and mutual respect. Doyce was a devoted father to his daughter, Tonya Bunn (Mike) of Daphne, AL, and his son, Tony Windham (Kristin) of Samson, AL. His legacy proliferated through his adored six grandchildren, Zoey Bunn, Madison Simmons (Grant), Katelyn McNalley (Joey), Tori Windham, Jules Windham, and Wyatt Windham, as well as his four great-grandchildren, Deklan, Maybree, Mavi, and Scarlett.

A patriot at heart, Doyce proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before settling into a life that exemplified service and community involvement. His over 50-year membership in the American Legion stood as a testament to his commitment to fellow veterans and his pride in his military service.

Doyce’s love for the outdoors was a defining characteristic of his life. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found peace and joy in nature, and he took great pleasure in working in the yard, creating spaces where his family could gather. Nothing brought more joy to Doyce than spending time with his grandchildren, and he was their constant supporter, often found on the sidelines of their sporting events, cheering them on.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Danny Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

ABBEVILLE…  Earnest “Big E” Cassidy, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama, passed away Thursday evening, October 16, 2025, at his home. He was 70.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Pastor Jamie Danzey officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Mr. Cassidy was born in Henry County, Alabama to the late Theo Nelson and Doris Olivia Cassidy. Mr. Cassidy worked in forestry before being medically retired.  Earnest loved his family and will be missed.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded by his siblings, Gloria Davis Sewell, Rosa Nelson, Juanita Nelson, Jimmy Nelson, and Marvin Cassidy; and his niece, Johnnie Ruth Roosevelt Beck.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Elizabeth Richards; his children, Bridgette Carthon (Moses), Brenda Jett, Kevin Richards (Lawanda), Latonya Richards, Shanteena Richards, and Rexie Richards; his sister, Alice Nelson Hogan; his nieces and nephews, Doris Williams, Regina Lawrence, Cornelius Nelson, Douglas Hogan (Mary), Lorenzo Hogan (Lynette), Jamar Hogan, and Sherry Lynn (Daniel).

Daniel Berry

Daniel Lee Berry , age 83, went to be with our Lord October 22, 2025 in Dothan Alabama.  He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Marie Berry , his only son, Christopher Berry, and his older brother William Berry.  He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Ronda Jane Berry, three precious grandchildren, Brooke Lynn (Richard) Pescod of Tucson AZ, Samantha Anne Berry of Dothan, Daniel Dean Berry of Dothan, two step grandchildren James Dean Hudson of Dothan, Cody Bevans of Enterprise, Daughter in law Robyn Berry of Dothan, and three precious great-grandchildren, Richie Pescod, Madden Berry, and Lincoln Berry. Surviving siblings are sisters Ruth Marie Berry of Grand Rapids MI, and Virginia Sue Cottone (Joe) of Sterling Heights MI, and brothers Robin Dewey Berry (Janet) of Omer MI, and Don Red Berry (Stacy) of Shelby, MIand many loving nieces and nephews.

Dan was born May 30, 1942 in Saginaw County Michigan.  He grew up on a farm in rural Standish Michigan  In 1964 he graduated from Michigan State University with a BA degree in Economics, and began his work career as a civilian Government employee in the computer department of the Tank-Automotive Command in a time that computers were room sized.  During that time he served 6 years in the Michigan National Guard.  Dan and Ronda Williams were married June 18, 1966 in Grosse Pointe Presbyterian Church in Michigan.

He worked for several companies as a Computer Systems Manager, in Dothan he worked for Flavorhouse Corp,  TwitchellCorp, and retired from Construction Partners.

Dan was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution,  adevoted member of Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church, and served 36 years in the Coast Guard Auxiliary as Flotilla Commander, achieving the rank of Vice Commander of the 8thCoastal Region.  As a Coxswain he often led patrols out of both Eufaula (down the Chattahoochee River), and Panama City.  He used his boating  and teaching skills to serve the boating public, and as an encouraging mentor to young Sea Scouts.

Dan’s family rests in the knowledge  that through his selflessness and desire to live according to God’s will, he has now won God’s smile.  Dan will be buried in EvergreenCemetery in Omer MI, with a celebration of Life graveside service at a future date.

Edgar Neil Baker

Edgar Neil Baker was born on December 28, 1950, in Dothan, Alabama. He was affectionately known as Neil to many. He was a loving father, brother, son, and loyal friend.

Neil loved nature, especially the water and the ocean, the mountains, and cold weather. He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved talking football with his boys.

Neil lived a life dedicated to serving others. He spent four years in the National Guard, served with the United Nations as an international police officer, and devoted over 25 years to his community as a police officer in Mobile, Alabama. During his career, he proudly served in several specialized units, including the Mounted Unit, the SWAT Team, and as a Homicide Detective. His years of service reflected his courage, dedication, and heart for protecting others.

In retirement, Neil found peace on the water in his beloved houseboat, where he spent his mornings and evenings fishing from the dock in solitude while reading a good book. He was known for finding joy in the simple things: family, Alabama football, and the beauty of the great outdoors.

Eventually, he felt drawn back home to Ashford, Alabama, where he spent his days riding back roads on his motorcycle, cracking pecans from the tree out front, golfing, sharing meals with lifelong friends, and enjoying the small-town life he loved.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Gwendolyn Baker

He is survived by his beloved sons, Joshua (Natalie) Baker and Zachary (Allyson) Baker, of whom he was so proud; his treasured grandchildren, Blaze (20), Emery (17), Eli (14), Eleanor (12), Emerson (11), and Everett (8); and his cherished sisters, Carol (Omar) Humphrey and Sheila Baker.

He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00am at Dothan First Church of the Nazarene in Dothan, Alabama.  Flowers will need to be taken to the church the day of the service.
