Margie Roney Trawick passed away peacefully at her home in Hampton, GA, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.  Margie was born in Headland, AL on July 15, 1938, to the late Johnie B. Roney and Lois Johnson Roney.  She grew up in the Headland area where she accepted Christ as her Savior and graduated from Headland High School in 1956.  Margie could not say no to an ironing board proposal from Hershel M. Trawick after only seven short months of dating.  They married June 29, 1957, a month later. After a year, they relocated to Enterprise, AL where she worked as the head cashier at the Kwik Chek until she became a devoted mother and full-time homemaker.  Theyrelocated to Morrow, GA in October 1966.  Margie joined the Rock Baptist Church shortly afterward where she and Hershel worked with the youth and later became Sunday School Teachers.  Margie was the church hostess for a number of years where she headed the Wednesday night suppers.  After moving to Hampton, GA in 2003 Margie became a member of McDonough Road Baptist Church and recently joined Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church.  Margie had a great love for Jesus and lived her life to let His light shine through her.  She was a wonderfully devoted wife, mother, daughter, nana, sister and friend.  Margie enjoyed the simple things in life, like spending time with family and friends whether it be over a bowl of chili, homemade ice cream or playing cards and board games.  She was a country girl who liked the outside: gardening, fishing, camping, playing softball and volleyball or sitting around knitting dish rags. One of her most cherished titles was Nana.

She was proceeded in death by her father Johnie B. Roney, mother Lois Johnson Roney, brother Junior Roney, brother Jimmy Roney, sister Syble Roney Lisenby, and granddaughter Sommer Spencer.  She is survived by her husband Hershel M. Trawick; daughters Marcia Pepples (Richard) and Melanie Purvis (Frank); sister Sherrin Johnson (Ronald); sister-in-love Linda Price; sister-in-love Patsy Roney; grandchildren Kyle Pepples (Chelsea), Lacey Swafford (Matt), Megan Lawerence (Adam), Cole Purvis, Jesse Purvis, and Bailey Purvis; great-grandchildren Everette, Marley, Anna, Carlisle, Katlynn, and Parker; great-great grandchild Percy; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00pm on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, GA. The memorial service will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church, Fayetteville, GA.  Graveside services will follow at the Rock Baptist Church, Rex, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church Fayetteville Campus Expansion Fund with the memo of Margie Trawick.

Ruth Thompson Anderson

Ruth Thompson Anderson, age 90, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Flowers Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Fowler Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Ruth was born on July 2, 1935, in Florida to John Benjamin Thompson and Susan Ettie Scott Thompson. She worked as an air traffic controller earlier in her life. She later dedicated her time to serving others as a Pink Lady volunteer at Medical Center Barbour and volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center, where she assisted seniors with resources for medications and other essential needs. Ruth was a faithful member of Covenant Methodist Church in Dothan. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, sewing, reading, and cooking.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leo Thompson.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 42 years, Malcolm Edward “Jack” Anderson; son, Ronnie Brannon; daughter, Glenda Parrish (Bill); stepdaughters, Karen Anderson and Katherine Anderson; grandchildren, Emily Blumberg, Amy Strozier, and Bryant Parrish (Alexis); great-grandchildren, Brannon Blumberg, Savannah Blumberg, Cameron Blumberg, Sam Strozier, William Strozier, Ruthie Strozier, and Sadie Parrish; brothers, Ben Thompson and Andy Thompson; and sisters, Louise Childs and Ruby Hicks.

Randall L. “Randy” Rogers

Randall L. “Randy” Rogers

Randall L. “Randy” Rogers, born on July 31, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia, was a man whose life was characterized by his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and intelligent wit. Randy passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and dedication.

Randy’s journey began in the southern charm of Atlanta, where his childhood was steeped in the values of hard work and community. After receiving his industrial degree from Georgia Tech, he furthered his education by earning a Law Degree from Georgia State University, equipping him with a unique blend of practical skills and legal expertise. Randy’s commitment to his country was evident through his service as a Green Beret, where he completed two tours in Vietnam with honor and courage as a Marine, serving as an attachment in the US Army Special Forces.

Randy found his calling with Granger Lumber. At the young age of 16, he had started driving lumber trucks, and his industrious spirit never waned. Randy’s professional life was marked by his role as a team builder and his ability to inspire those around him. His colleagues often spoke of his ability to lighten the mood with a well-timed joke, ensuring that even the most challenging days were infused with laughter.

Outside of work, Randy was a dedicated Mason in Florida, embodying the fraternity’s values of brotherhood, truth, and charity. His love for his family was immeasurable, a sentiment shared by his beloved wife of 38 years, Lea Ann Rogers, whom he married on a hopeful New Year’s Eve. Randy is survived by his son, Clinton Ashley Rogers, who, along with his wife Thu-Thuy, gave Randy the joy of being a grandfather to Caroline, Piper, and Cooper Rogers.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Ava Goodson Rogers by his brother, Alvin Herbert Rogers, and by his in-laws, Charles and Peggy Johnson. His brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Michelle Johnson, alongside his niece Nicole Wallace and nephew Kyle Johnson, will fondly remember the countless family gatherings filled with Randy’s infectious laughter and storytelling. His extended family, including several cousins, will miss his compassionate presence and the joy he brought to their lives.

Randy’s interests were a reflection of his zest for life. His love for golf was only matched by his passion for tending to his yard, where he found peace and contentment. A jokester at heart, Randy never met a stranger, and his desire to help others was evident in every interaction. His love for music and silly videos kept his spirit young, and his dogs were a constant source of companionship and joy.

Those who knew Randy will remember a man who was loving, friendly, and intelligent. His legacy will be carried on in the hearts of his family and friends, who were touched by his kindness, his unwavering support, and his ability to bring people together. Randy L. Rogers lived a life full of love, laughter, and an enduring commitment to making the world a brighter place for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on as a beacon of the love he shared so freely.

Waymon Dale Curtis

DOTHAN. . .Waymon Dale Curtis, a resident of Dothan, passed away Friday afternoon, November 28, 2025, at his home. He was 83.

There are no memorial or funeral services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Curtis was born and raised in Knoble, Arkansas, son of the late Omer Justice Curtis and Lucille Fowler Curtis. He lived most of his adult lifetime in Cicero, Illinois and also lived on Lake Eufaula in Henry County, Alabama before moving to Dothan in 1989. Mr. Curtis was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Kingdom Hall on Cottonwood Road. He was retired from Rahal Buick in Dothan as an automobile technician. Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Riley.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Ruth Mullins Curtis; a daughter, Tabitha Slatton (Jason), Whitwell, TN; sons, Kevin Curtis (Stephanie), Midland City, AL; and Sean Curtis, Dothan, AL; a sister, Gabriella Weiss (Ronald), of Florida; brothers, Connie Curtis (Pam), Ocala, FL; and Dudley Curtis (Roxanne), Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren, Ethan Curtis (Victoria), Andrew Curtis, Madison Curtis Beard (Geoffrey), and Morgan Curtis; several nieces and nephews.

Paul Dean Everett

Paul “Dean” Everett, age 61, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his residence.

Dean was born June 26, 1964, in Alabama to Paul Dean Everett, Sr. and Anne Colehill Everett. He worked at Dunbarton as a forklift operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Alabama football, going fishing, and cutting grass.

He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Durwood Everett   

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Donna Monday Everett; his mother, Anne Everett; his children, Jonathan Everett and Deana Bush (Mark); stepson, Brandon Thomas (Kaylee); grandchildren, Jace Everett, Nichole Shipes, Lilli Money, Bryson Creel, Addie McCord, Harper Bush; step-grandchildren, Oaklynn and Paisley; brothers, Steve Everett and Greg Everett (Patty); and sister, Dawn Everett

Paul Dean Everett, affectionately known as Dean, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in his hometown of Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 61. He was a man of great humor and generosity, whose loving nature touched the lives of all who knew him. 

Dean was born on June 26, 1964, in Dothan, to Anne Everett and the late Paul Durwood Everett. He was a lifelong resident of the city, a place he cherished and where he formed countless cherished memories. Dean was a graduate of the local schools, where he formed the foundation of a life filled with laughter and kindness. 

For 33 years, Dean was a dedicated employee at Dunbarton, working diligently in shipping and receiving until his well-deserved retirement. His colleagues knew him as a hard worker who could always be counted upon to lighten the mood with his jokes and quick wit. Dean was also an active member of the company’s softball team, bringing his love for sports and camaraderie to the field. 

Dean’s passion for life extended beyond work. He was an avid Alabama football fan, and during the season, his voice could be heard cheering and sometimes chiding his beloved team through the television screen. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of fishing, where he found both excitement and solace. 

Above all, Dean was a family man. His presence was a source of joy at family gatherings, and he loved nothing more than spending quality time with his loved ones. He is survived by his children, Jonathan Everett and Deana (Mark) Bush; his six grandchildren, Lilliona Money, Nichole Shipes, Jace Everett, Bryson Creel, Addie McCord, and Harper Bush; his mother, Anne Everett; his brothers, Greg (Patty) Everett and Steve Everett; his sister, Dawn Everett; and several nieces and nephews. His father, Paul Durwood Everett, preceded him in death. 

Those who knew Dean will remember him as the life of the party, a man who could always be counted on for a good laugh, a generous act, or a shoulder to lean on. His kind heart and loving spirit were his trademarks, and he will be greatly missed by all. 

A celebration of Dean’s life will take place at 2:30 pm on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jay Everett officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories from 1:30 pm until the time of service. 

Dean’s legacy of laughter, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. As we say goodbye to a man who was truly the best of us, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
